That picture of the escalator could be from any metro station in the city.
But whenever I see those little pointy bits that were installed on the dividers
between the escalators going up and going down, I think of a time when they weren't there.
Actually, I think they've always been there for as long as I've been in Montreal, but there
was a time when they were staggered : a pair on the outside, a pair in the center and so on.
Their placement allowed you just enough time to spread your feet and lift yout butt as you picked up speed,
finally reaching that last two feet of leveling off before there was nothing underneath your except gravity.
